• 9 Answers SOURCE: If you any experience getting into the system bios you can check to see if the system still sees the hard drive by pressing the F2 or DEL key on startup. This screen shows a system bios with hard drives present. If it does not show up it could be that it came unplugged however unlikely. But you could try opening the system and checking to make sure the hard drive is still plugged in. Some manufactures tend to plug devices in fairly loosely. It may look something like this (or like this (If all this seems too much, you could take the PC to a repair shop and have them check to see if your harddrive is still properly installed. Need serious help, Windows xps studio 8100, installed new hard drive and everything just went from bad to worse. The Seagate DiskWizard worked as expected. It took over two hours to clone the three partitions from the C: Drive: Tomorrow I will remove the Disk from the external SATA Hard Drive enclosure, open the XPS and install the faster drive and power on the XPS 8300 with crossed fingers and hope for a successful boot. It’s a smallish PC that looks good and it doesn’t harbour any old-fashioned ports and slots. You won’t find VGA or PS/2 ports on it, nor does the motherboard have PCI slots. The motherboard has only PCIe slots, with two free PCIe x1 slots available for expansion cards.
